Math Grade K-12
Common Core Math Curriculum
The Common Core State Standards is an educational initiative in the United States that details what K–12 students should know in mathematics at the end of each grade. The Standards seeks to establish consistent educational standards across the states and ensure that students graduating from high school are prepared to enter credit-bearing courses at two-or four-year college programs or to enter the workforce.
STEMshala follows this Common Core curriculum, which emphasizes and sharpens the math skills at a conceptual level to enhance the reasoning and logical thinking. Students will learn concepts in a more organized way at their grade level while working on a structured set of curriculum .The standards also encourage students to solve complex, multi-step, real-world problems by applying the concepts they learn on all mathematical operations and algebraic thinking.
US Edition – Singapore Math
Singapore Math US edition is a teaching method based on the National Mathematics Curriculum used for grades K- 8. The term was originally coined in the United States to describe an approach, originally developed in Singapore, for teaching students to learn and master mathematical concepts at greater detail as well as having them learn these concepts using a three-step learning process: Concrete, Pictorial, and Abstract.
In the concrete step, students also engage in hands-on learning experiences using concrete objects/manipulatives such as lego blocks, chips, dice, or paper clips. This is followed by drawing pictorial representations of mathematical concepts. Students then solve challenging mathematical problems in an abstract way by using numbers and symbols.Students perform at a higher level when their potential for understanding and success is assumed.
